Assam Petro-Chemicals Ltd. (APL) is amongst the few prestigious PSUs under state Govt. The company received approval from Govt. of Assam on recommendation of Public Investment Board (PIB) for setting up a 500TPD Methanol & 200 TPD Formaldehyde plant at a total capital outlay of Rs. 1337 crores. The company is implementing the mega project with the equity participation from the Govt. of Assam (including AIDC & AGCL) & M/s Oil India Ltd.
Contract for implementation of the 500 TPD Methanol plant had been awarded to M/s Engineers India Limited (EIL). The design and engineering job for the plant is in advanced stage including commencement of procurement activities. The piling jobs for the project site are under execution and contract for Tankage job for process and product storage has been awarded and the job will start soon. The contract for execution of Formaldehyde plant to be set up at Baitamari, western Assam on LSTK basis is going to be awarded soon.
The scheduled completion of the Methanol-Formaldehyde project is April, 2019. On commissioning of the new Methanol and Formalin plants, there will be an enhancement of production capacity of APL by 165,000 TPA of Methanol & 70,000 TPA of Formalin respectively.
APL is on its way to be a major Petro-Chemicals complex in the NER thereby opening a new horizon in the industrialization of Assam with its new Methanol-Formalin project. APL would usher economic stability, increase production & productivity & generate direct & indirect employment in Northeast region.
